This poem is short but totally insightful:
“I have wept in the night
For the shortness of sight
That to somebody’s need made me blind;
But I never have yet
Felt a tinge of regret
For being a little too kind”
There is no such thing as being too kind, not even a little too kind. Kindness is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
The golden rule is the greatest example of how kindness has been an ethical code since ancient times. You will not only find it in the Bible, but in the teachings of ancient and modern philosophers and world leaders.
Treat others as you would like to be treated.
The question is… How do we want to get treated?
Some friends have answered this question with how they do NOT wish to be treated. It may sound crazy but some people do not know what they want or how they want to be treated.
This is my outline for kindness:
1- Figure out how you want to be treated
2- Treat yourself that way
3- Treat others that way
If you enjoy being treated with love, kindness, and respect…do it for others. It’s never TOO much.
Sometimes we feel unappreciated, forgotten, and like it’s never enough… My advice is to CHANGE your feelings! I have learned to love what I do for others without expectations. You will never regret it.
It’s a great thing to wonder if you are being too kind. It means you are on the right path to joy and fulfillment.
