September 11 is a day when people in the United States remember the fall of the Twin Towers and the sad loss of many citizens at Ground Zero.
12 years after this tragic event, people use social media to post where they were the moment they found out. At that time, I had a corporate job, so I found out while working as the COO of a telecommunications company, at the ITLA free zone park in my native country, the Dominican Republic.
My sister was in New York at that time, visiting my aunt and they all witnessed the tragedy from afar. That very same day, I lost my grandmother, Ramona, to Parkinson’s disease. We will never forget… for many reasons.
Every year on September 11, I strive to do something positive to offset the darkness that day represents.
This year, I had the best experience thus far. I was selected as an expert for the M’m M’m Dallas Breakfast Table with Denise Morrison, President and CEO of Campbell Soup Co., organized by Faith Pocpcorn’s Brain Reserve @PopcornBrains.
I arrived in the Intercontinental Dallas after a crazy driving experience, and was immediately surrounded by greatness [see a listing of these powerful ladies below the post].
CEO Denise, Forbes #80 Most Powerful Woman in the world, is an inspiration and a joy to talk to. She loves to mentor women around the world because having come from an era where women had to “be men” in order to be even considered for a C Suite position, she believes that “the movement of women” is here and she completely supports it.
As women, we connect better when we have things in common. I felt definitely connected to CEO Denise in that she believes in work – life integration, dialogue, and deep connection.
3 Campbell Soup For The Soul Tips For Business Women
I decided to share the information and inspiration I received from CEO Denise and the influential experts that joined me in this experience:
1. Extend Your Hand ~ When discussing the child-like greetings and gestures we get sometimes from men (you know, the pat in the head or side hug, for example lol), Denise suggested we extend our hand to make known ahead of time how we would like to be greeted. Wow… such a powerful move!
2. Get Digitally Fit ~ “In a world of high-tech, it’s all about high-touch” says CEO Denise, who believes that marketing is about connecting with your consumer. Campbell Soup Co. embraced social media as an opportunity to listen to consumers and to initiate transparent participation. Instead of restraining social media dialogue, it is encouraged with the recommended self-inquiry: “Would I be proud to see this printed on The New York Times?”… Brilliant!
3. Live YOUR Mission ~ Between topics of success, leadership, social media, and career paths, Denise encouraged us to define our personal mission to establish a sense of purpose: who we are and where we are headed. As you may know, I am a Passion Test Facilitator and a firm believer that we must be clear on what our Top 5 Passions are in order to align with our personal destiny.
Knowing my Top 5 Passions allowed me to write the following manifesto, declaration, and proclamation that keeps me focused on following my desired path and living on my own terms:
I am committed to living a life I love, abundant with gratitude, balance, truth, and respect for all beings. I seek light each day by being deeply connected with God, self, and others, paying particular attention to family unity through maintaining a harmonious, fun, satisfying partnership with my daughters and my eternal companion. I am passionate about #motherhood, #mompreneurship, and #motivation, and I enjoy my diligent contribution as a teacher and guide to moms worldwide, empowering, equipping, and encouraging their journey to become a Positive MOM. My philosophy is “BE Positive and You’ll BE Powerful!”
What’s your personal mission? Are you ready to LIVE it? Women like CEO Denise don’t become successful erratically or by chance. They are clear on their path, they put effort into living it, and they pay it forward to the next generation. I love CEO Denise and I am so grateful that my brilliant fellow experts and I had the opportunity to sit with her and become inspired on such a day. It was like a cup of Campbell’s soup for the soul!

Wow, what a moving story about your grandmother on 9-11. It's so hard to remember that day but anything else of the terrorist attacks.
And strong women, who remember where their gifts come from and use them to glorify Him, can change the world!
