I keep a “treasure box” with clippings of newspapers and magazine articles that spark inspiration and motivation with me.
I often look back and, surprisingly, or not… I usually find a message that speaks to the very situation I’m facing or pondering about.
I would love to cite the source, but I honestly do not know where I cut it from or when, for that matter.
These words of wisdom are inspirational, not just for moms, but for anyone who’s feeling down, depressed, unappreciated, lonely, or sad…
“If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75 percent of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and a little spare change in a dish on your dresser, you are among the top eight percent of the world’s wealthy.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will die this week.
If you have loneliness of imprisonment or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, or death, you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.
If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them, or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you are able to offer a healing touch.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
And lastly, if you can read this, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.”
The statistics may be off, but not dramatically.
Either way, this inspirational article allows us to take the focus away from ourselves and our situation to think about others and what they are going through.
I think about Haiti’s earthquakes, the Philippines’ floods, and the India cyclones…just to name a few, and it is very saddening to think about so much loss.
Many of the most humble, innocent, and pure human beings I have met come from Haiti, which borders my home country, the Dominican Republic.
I have Filipino friends, team members, and relatives.
Some of my best friends live in India.
However, it is very rewarding to give back and to see others do the same. To see the way by reaching out, we stop stressing and grieving about our own situations to place the focus on others. Suddenly, the monthly bills stop worrying us, and great satisfaction is found in sharing ourselves, our possessions, our talents, our ability to intercede to our Father, or positive energy and compassion, which we need to come up with, in the first place.
I pray that we may be instruments of blessings to our surviving brothers and sisters so their quality of life may be improved. I am confident that those lives lost were found by a loving Father wherever they may be.
I want to thank all the HUMANITARIAN hands and souls. T
hank YOU for allowing me to live this miracle, to see that we are alive, that we are compassionate, that we reach out, that we love, and most importantly, that we show it.
There is certainly no greater happiness than to live in gratitude and service to others.
Have a Charitable, Love-Filled, Joyful, and Grateful day!
