Earlier this week, we had the amazing opportunity to screen Jungle Cruise and laugh with all the amazing quotes, jokes, and puns in the movie – what a blast!
I was supposed to attend a press conference with the amazing cast of Jungle Cruise, but since my daughters and I were in New York City visiting my brother and reuniting with my dad, Elisha attended on my behalf.
What an amazing opportunity! And I’m sharing fun facts and details from that interview below!
Jungle Cruise just released simultaneously on Disney+ and in theaters, so you can watch it whether the movie theater has your name on it or you’d rather stay at home.
This statement from Disney says it all:
“Jungle Cruise is the perfect summer adventure film, bringing a beloved theme park attraction to both the big screen and living rooms in a way that only Disney can. We remain focused on offering consumer choice during these unprecedented times, and it is clear that fans and families value the ability to make decisions on how they prefer to enjoy Disney’s best-in-class storytelling.”
So let’s talk about the movie!
The Jungle Cruise Story
The story is by John Norville & Josh Goldstein and Glenn Ficarra & John Requa, and the screenplay is by Michael Green and Glenn Ficarra & John Requa.

Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton.
Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat.
Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine.
Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest.
But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance.
The Jungle Cruise Cast
Jaume Collet-Serra directs the film, which stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramírez and Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
The producers are John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment; Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions; and Beau Flynn of Flynn Picture Co., with Scott Sheldon and Doug Merrifield serving as executive producers.
The chemistry between the actors was palpable in the interview. The banter was strong with these ones!
The Jungle Cruise Movie Quotes
The girls and I watched the movie twice to make sure we captured the best Jungle Cruise movie quotes for you.
Here are some of our favorite Jungle Cruise quotes:

You are not where you are supposed to be. The secretary’s office is that way.

Where were we? About to die.
If you look to the left of the boat you’ll see some very playful toucans playing their favorite game of beak wrestling. The only drawback is only two can play.
The rocks you see here in the river are sandstone, but some people just take them for granite. It’s one of my boulder attractions.
You know, before this I worked in an orange juice factory, but I got canned. Couldn’t concentrate. Yeah, they put the squeeze on me.
Funny.
Everything that you see wants to kill you, and can. Get your cameras out. Snap snap snap. I get paid by the number of people I take out, not by the number of people I bring back.
You know they say the boa constrictor right there is capable of eating up to 500 lbs per sitting. Personally I find that very hard to swallow.
Mom, make it stop.
Drawing unnecessary attention. I don’t care in the slightest.
He looks 10, but he’s secretly 47.
Ugh – what fresh hell is this?

You’re going to beg me to turn back. Well, I look forward to disappointing you.

A little bit more fear just came out.

Aren’t you hot in all that?
My eyeballs are sweating.
I had a girlfriend once. She was cross-eyed. It didn’t work out. We could never see eye-to-eye. I’m also quite sure she was seeing somebody on the side.
It’s like drifting through the Garden of Eden.
Don’t you worry about that, skippy.
4,300 miles of luxurious bath.
You’re staring. How do I make it stop?
Perhaps you need proper inspiration.
You are deeply unpleasant. And off-key.
I don’t have to know someone to care.
Great timing.
You should give up the guitar.
I found it exhilarating.
Your sister says what she thinks, with no regard to anyone’s feelings.
She stood by me, and for that, I would follow her into a volcano.
You are like an onion of deceit.
I’m going to pet you now and you’re not going to eat me. Understood?
It’s only a scam if you fall for it.
The whole family has strong form.
When in Rome. I wish I was in Rome.
We is an interesting word. It sort of implies a bond of trust and loyalty.
There’s no we.
It’ll come off eventually. In a few decades.
I think you must think I’m a fool.
Pareces sorprendido.
You’re too heavy.
You’re a doctor. Of Botany.
Don’t worry, you’re my favorite girl.
The choice is yours. Do they live or do they die?
I get to make a choice, and I choose to rest.
Everything you’ve seen that’s new in this world, I’ve seen a thousand times.
I can’t do this without you. I need you. You’re going to have to trust me.
I’m ready. It’s my time.
You have very poor judgment.
It could be that one person’s world enough.
I believe this belongs to you.
Such an imaginative woman.

I have a name.
Good murder cat.
You’re the worst cat I’ve ever had.
You’re the best cat I’ve ever had.

Enough is enough.
Not exactly what I intended.

The past and the present vanish.
You can take your invitation and you can shove it up your association.
Your jokes. They will be the best of me.

Fun Facts from Jungle Cruise Movie – with Quotes by the Cast
My daughters and I loved the
Fun Fact: When Dwayne Johnson pitched Jungle Cruise to Emily Blunt, she actually ghosted him.
Emily Blunt: “I just wanted to play a little bit hard to get and that’s fine.”
Emily Blunt:
Has anyone ever ghosted you for real before?
Dwayne Johnson:
No, just you. And only you.
Dwayne Johnson:
So our director, Jaime Collet-Serra, was flying to New York to meet Emily to hand-deliver the Jungle Cruise script. And he delivered it to her. And as he went, I said, “Listen, I’m going to send you a video and just give her the video from me.” So I gave her this video. It was 25 minutes long, guys.
I said, “Emily, you are the only one who can do this movie.”
Emily Blunt:
I was very touched.
Jack, attest to this as a British person, if someone comes on too strong-
It’s just better to go, “Okay. Just tone it down”
I needed to read the script. I did love your video. I really loved it!
Fun Fact: When Dwayne Johson first got offered the Jungle Cruise project, he said yes immediately.
Dwayne Johnson: The script was in a really good place. I immediately just saw the potential of the opportunity. And that opportunity was to take a beloved and iconic Disney ride since 1955, when the park opened – this was Walt Disney’s baby.
Johnson jokingly refers to Blunt as “The female Indiana Jones.”
Fun Fact: Jack Whitehall actually had a part in Frozen! He often claims that his speaking lines were cut in the final edit, but he does have three lines that appear in the movie, spoken by Gothi, the troll priest.
Jack Whitehall:
Well, post the Frozen experience, getting my one line cut from Frozen, I felt like this was just a case, it’s throwing enough stuff at the wall and something sticking, because I was just desperate to not be cut for making movies. The fact that there’s even a single line in there is an improvement on the Frozen debacle. And I’m so excited to actually be a speaking part in a Disney film.
Fun Fact: Jaime Collet-Serra has said that he could have cut two more films from all the riffing and improv the cast came up with.
Jack Whitehall:
The script was amazing, but then also we were given the space to kind of improvise and add stuff to it. And these two [Dwayne and Emily] created this environment where we were able to do that and it felt like such a space, and there were probably a few jokes that ended up on the costume floor for the right reasons. Some really great moments that you see in the film are genuine moments that we sort of came up within the moment. And Jaime was so good at encouraging that as well.
Fun Fact: Edgar Ramírez is afraid of snakes – and so is his mom.
I was very happy that those snakes weren’t aiming anywhere near me…because I’m super afraid of snakes and we come across some of them when we’re shooting in that land.
(My mom) said, “Why didn’t you tell me? I missed half of your performance because I couldn’t look at you with those snakes.”
Fun Fact: The most difficult stunt for Emily Blunt was the vine swing.
“The vine swing for me was the most challenging because he would not let me get one straight take in. He pushed it so far every time to try and make me laugh on that vine swing. We shot that all day, we didn’t get one straight one.”
But every time I was like, “just tell me what you’re going to say this time, just so I can be prepared.” Every time he’d throw in some awful improv, that would make me laugh. I don’t know how many times we must’ve shot that.
Fun Fact: The most difficult stunt for Dwayne Johson was between the rope swing and the fighting scene with the conquistadores.
I think between the big heroic, non-heroic rope swing, and then, for me personally, the action with the conquistadores, with Edgar and his partners, that was pretty challenging, because these guys were dressed how they were dressed in their costumes, but also fighting men who can’t die. As I give the movie away. So they fight in a different way. There’s different energy, with the confidence.
Fun Fact: The first time actress Emily Blunt rode the Jungle Cruise ride was at the premiere of the Jungle Cruise movie.
She said, “I loved it. I thought it was very whimsical and sweet and I could see the elements from the ride that have made it into the film.”
Fun Fact: Édgar Ramírez also rode Jungle Cruise for the first time at the premiere.
“I also did the ride for the first time two nights ago, so I saw the movie for the first time and then went into the ride with my family and some of my closest friends. It was simple, it was cute. It was tender, and it was silly.”
Dwayne Johnson had ridden Jungle Cruise when he was a kid. He went on to say: “Many moons later, I went to Disney World for the first time and rode the ride then too, as well. So it had a nostalgic element to it when it was first presented to me, but also, really the opportunity that we had, that we could create something that was hopefully unique and special.”
Fun Fact: The Jungle Cruise movie was wrapped in 2018.
Dwayne Johnson:
Since then Jaime has been working on it. Edited and cut this movie, Black Adam as well. We feel like he’s Hollywood’s best-kept secret. So we have him locked up.
Emily Blunt:
We have him locked up, so don’t come calling for him.
Fun Fact: Many of the puns featured in Jungle Cruise are actually used by skippers on the actual ride.
Édgar Ramírez
Your standup comedy, Dwayne, I mean, the backside of water is going to stay with me forever. And I went on the ride and our skipper made that joke as well, and I cracked. It’s not that funny, but it’s super funny.
Emily Blunt
Everybody laughed at the premiere, people cheered. It’s like a big thing.
Édgar Ramírez
I can see why it’s become so iconic. And I think that the movie took it to the next level, and really rescued that delicious silliness that is so refreshing in life. We need that. Those are the best jokes.
Emily Blunt: Someone said the other day, “welcome to the pungle.”
Jack Whitehall: Welcome to the pungle? That is so good.
Arent’ these amazing? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Such a wonderful press conference and interview.
Jungle Cruise Movie Review for Moms
Jungle Cruise is rated PG-13, mainly because of violence and thematic elements.
Language: It does contain strong language in two instances…. the H-word in full and just the S in the S-word in another scene.
Adult Content: There are two kisses and one suggestive comment about sexuality.
Violence: The movie rating comes primarily from this category. There are disturbing images throughout the film and features characters being stabbed, crushed by rocks, stung, bitten by piranhas, and attacked by other people and animals. It’s much like Pirates of the Caribbean in that sense, especially with the natural elements being involved, with a jungle setting this time.
