Kim Possible ~ Disney Channel Original Movie

I just finished watching Kim Possible, a Disney Channel original movie from the studio that brought us Teen Beach and Descendants, and I’m excited to let you know that you can bring it home on Disney DVD March 26th!

Kim Possible is a live-action based on the global hit animated series we all loved and follows everyday teen hero Kim Possible and best friend and sidekick Ron Stoppable as they embark on their freshman year of high school, all while saving the world from evil villains.

By Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable’s side side every step of the way is teen tech-genius Wade and their new friend Athena, who also happens to be a Kim Possible super fan and is eager to join Team Possible.

While Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable have always been one step ahead of their opponents, navigating the social hierarchy of high school is more challenging than the action-hero ever imagined. The plot teaches us that High School makes saving the world looks easy!

With Drakken and Shego lurking in the wings, Kim must rely on her family and friends more than ever. Now it’s up to Team Possible—Kim, Ron, tech-genius Wade, new friend Athena and Rufus, a naked mole-rat that Ron meets along the way—to stop these super villains.

The cast of Kim Possible includes Sean Giambrone as Ron Stoppable, Ciara Wilson as Athena, Todd Stashwick as Drakken, Taylor Ortega as Shego, Alyson Hannigan as Dr. Ann Possible, Connie Ray as Nana Possible, Issac Ryan Brown as Wade Load, Erika Tham as Bonnie Rockwaller and Nancy Cartwright as Rufus. There are special appearances by Christy Carlson Romano and Patton Oswalt, too!

Disney’s Kim Possible is directed by Adam Stein & Zach Lipovsky, with Bob Schooley, Mark McCorkle, and Zanne Devine as Executive Producers

I was super excited to meet Bob and Mark in Los Angeles when Big Hero 6 was about to launch.

The Kim Possible DVD includes really cool bonus features:

              Blooper Reel (DVD exclusive)

Q&A with Sadie Stanley and Sean Giambrone (DVD exclusive)

                                                Cast Auditions (DVD exclusive)

                                                                -Sadie Stanley

                                                                -Sean Giambrone

                                                                -Issac Ryan Brown

                                                Music Video

                                                Trailer

Kim Possible the live-action movie is rated TV-G (US) and runs approx. 86 minutes, excluding bonus features. You can use subtitles in English SDHFrench and Spanish, or use closed captions.

My daughters and I used to watch Kim Possible together so we were really thrilled to watch it. Elisha and Elyssa shared their thoughts with me about the live-action movie:

Elisha says:

I’m a huge fan of the original Kim Possible show, it was witty, fun, and taught some valuable lessons! I was really excited when I heard a live-action movie was coming out.

The performances by the actors are spectacular. I love how care was taken to make Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable as close to the original animated TV show characters. They also made the TV show more modern to be more relatable, which even though I was apprehensive about it at first, it adds a nice touch bringing it into our time.

I love the costumes, they are gorgeous! And She-go and Professor Drakken are also very well-done. I love how Bueno Taco and Middleton high school are the same as the show, and we discover the origin story of Rufus, everyone’s favorite naked mole rat.

I also love how it teaches that you don’t have to be the best at everything, and to separate what you do and who you are. It shows the importance of being happy for your friends’ success and not letting jealousy get in the way.

Elyssa’s thoughts:

I loved watching Kim Possible with my sisters SO much. My sister, Elisha, and I watched Kim Possible the cartoon TV show when we were kids, and we were huge fans, so it was awesome to see a live-action version! It was really cool to see the cartoon Kim Possible translated into something more modern, more real, and more relatable.

One of the many lessons from the movie was that our own jealousy and insecurity can get in the way of healthy relationships. We also learn that just because other people are mean, doesn’t mean you need to stop being kind.

One of the best parts of the movie was being able to see that no matter how put-together you are, life and its circumstances can still take a toll on your self-compassion, and that we need to remind ourselves sometimes that who we are is not what we do.

It was incredible seeing Kim Possible again after so long, and I can’t wait to see what else Disney has in store!

Are you a Kim Possible fan? Grab your very own copy of Disney Channel’s Kim Possible on March 26th. You’ll be glad you did!
