Make “The Little Mermaid” Part of Your World

In honor of its 30th anniversary, “The Little Mermaid,” dives into the highly celebrated Walt Disney Signature Collection, alongside with “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pinocchio,” “Bambi,” “The Lion King” and “Lady and the Tramp.”

The magical, musical tale of mermaid princess Ariel — along with her loveable sidekicks Sebastian and Flounder, and the love-to-hate sea witch Ursula — is now out of the vault for all generations for the first time Digitally in HD, 4K Ultra HD™  and Movies Anywhere, and comes on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray™ on Feb. 26.

The Little Mermaid was originally released in theaters on Nov. 15, 1989 and is the 28th film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and the first in what many described as a new Disney animation renaissance.

I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Mark Henn, who is the legendary Disney animator behind The Little Mermaid, and he gave us a tutorial on how to draw Ariel and sent us an autographed drawing, too! Can you imagine?

The Little Mermaid is a two-time Academy Award®-winner (Best Original Score and Best Original Song “Under the Sea,” 1989), and you can now watch it in sing-along mode! My daughters and I did this and it was so fun. We loved reliving so many memories and being reminded of the many positive lessons from one of our favorite Disney animated movies.

One of the most exciting treats for me was to watch The Little Mermaid in Spanish, just like I watched it the first time, a long time ago when I was in my early 20’s and to share that with my daughters.

You can enjoy The Little Mermaid in Latin Spanish, French Canadian, French, Spanish, and English Descriptive Audio and add subtitles in English SDH, French Canadian, Latin Spanish, Spanish and French.

THE LITTLE MERMAID BLU-RAY & DIGITAL

Sing-Along Mode – Sing along to the movie in this sing-along version of the film. I watched this version first, of course, and it’s officially the best way to watch The Little Mermaid.

Alan Menken & the Leading Ladies Song – The music of Alan Menken has scored the soundtrack for some of Disney’s most iconic leading ladies! I was so blessed to attend a special 90-minute performance of his one-man show, A Whole New World of Alan Menken, at packed Hall D23 during D23 Expo. You can join Alan, Jodi Benson (Ariel in The Little Mermaid), Paige O’Hara (Belle in Beauty and The Beast), Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas Singing Voice), Lillias White (Calliope in Hercules), and Donna Murphy (Mother Gothel in Rapunzel) in celebrating the music of their films in honor of the one that started it all … “The Little Mermaid.”

In this discussion, the ladies will share their memories of musically creating their characters with Alan Menken, discuss what it means to be part of the Disney Princess/leading lady legacy, and create new memories as they sing with Alan Menken around a baby grand piano.

“What I Want From You…Is YOUR VOICE” – Enter the recording studio and get an inside look at the cast of “The Little Mermaid” in their original recording sessions. These are so epic and surprising and I enjoyed them all!

Stories From Walt’s Office – Gadgets & Gizmos – Like Ariel, Walt Disney was a collector of many different things from miniatures to early mechanical characters that inspired the invention of audio-animatronics. I was really blessed to tour Walt Disney’s office at Walt Disney Studios and now you can take a look at some the collections that Walt kept in his office in the third episode of this series.

#TreasuresUntold – Join Ruby Rose Turner and Olivia Sanabia from the Disney Channel Original Series “Coop and Cami Ask the World” as they take a deep dive to explore some hidden treasures and fun facts about Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” I learned some really cool facts I didn’t know and my daughters loved Coop and Cami’s fun personalities.

DCapella “Part of Your World” Music Video – I wasn’t familiar with DCapella and now I’m almost obsessed. I promise you’ll get hooked, too!

I can't believe it's the 30th anniversary of The Little Mermaid. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a little girl. My daughters still have not seen it. I would love to win this DVD for them and watch it with them.
