Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all-new movie, we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” Relatable?

What Moms Need To Know about The Addams Family 2 Movie

The Addams Family 2 has a PG rating for macabre and rude humor, cartoon violence, and language. It’s not your typical family movie, and that is expected from this franchise.

Now, you know I’m not very fond of scary themes. Fear is one of the lowest vibrations there is, while laughter is expansive.

However, The Addams Family 2 is very funny. If you have a dark humor and so does your child, then this is your movie.

As far as danger and violence, there are explosions, fighting, red paint, a battle, strange creatures, and many characters are hurt or held captive.

Just like in the original, Wednesday’s (voiced by Chloë Grace Moretz) desires and tries to harm her brother Pugsley (Javon “Wanna” Walton), and the intensity was turned up in this sequel.

When it comes to language, you can expect bullying, insult words like “weirdo” and “freak” and you can see some other terms in que Family Addams quotes I compiled for you below.

As far as adult content, there is a joke about “tentacles” that seems to be a substitute to “testicles,” and there’s dating advice provided by Uncle Fester (Nick Kroll) and subsequent pick up lines and flirting. Adult characters drink in at least two scenes.

The Addams Family 2 was entertaining and you will like it if you’re an Addams Family fan; however, you can still find lots of positive lessons in this movie that you can discuss with the children.

The movie depicts what can happen when we assume instead of clearly communicating and it has a message of the true meaning of family and unconditional love.

My daughters and I had several discussions after this movie about the suggestive material, what jokes were cruel, what movie quotes we enjoyed, and how our family is different and similar to The Addams Family.

I think this last piece is very important because The Addams have a strong set of identities and they are distinct and unique as a family – and they own it wherever they go.
