Embracing The F Word In Motherhood

Elayna cannot dwell in the presence of profanity. Yes, I said it in the third person! 🙂

Being around it just drains my energy and lots of recovery is needed.

Would you believe me if I told you I avoid profanity like the plague?

I do! I once quit a really good job I had just to not have to hear my then-boss curse at everyone he talked to.

the F word - the power of focus - MOMtivation the positive mom blog

Well, there’s a funny side to this… I have an accent.

When I first visited the United States it got me into trouble.

That was way before I became a teacher and workshop facilitator, but I’d still discuss self-development topics with my friends, and pretty much anyone with ears.

I would tell them about the power of FOCUS…or so I thought. Get it? Think about it! LOL

This F word is very significant to me…and yes, now I make a conscious effort to pronounce it correctly. 🙂

F.O.C.U.S. = Follow One Course Until Successful

We all have the desire to succeed. I am happy when I know the things I do with my kids make them happy or create a desired result. Success feels good. Success comes as a result of harnessing and implementing the power of focus.

For ages, I have studied high achievers and top performers. No matter what their industry or discipline, they all cook their success with the same recipe: they consistently follow a course and stay on it until they got what they came for.

I have to have a Star Wars marathon to watch the movies one of these days, but  T-Shirts are very educational in Jedi wisdom:

“Always remember, your focus determines your reality.”~ Episode I

No pressure, right?

Narrow Focus, Focused Attention, or Focused Concentration consists in mentally disciplining ourselves to complete a task, plan, or activity, giving it our all, our undivided attention. This is especially true for time with your spouse or your children.

No distractions!

As a woman, it is sometimes hard to not take advantage of our multi-tasking skills. They just don’t serve us when we want to truly excel and be efficient and effective at achieving a result.

Focusing actually reduces stress and creates more time… BELIEVE IT!  As a matter of fact, applying this amazing principle, which is easily mastered by men because of its single-focused nature, will absolutely improve your business performance and quality of life.

Here are 3 tips that can help you keep the focus required to succeed at what you want:

  1. Have pictures, music, or information around to remind you of your vision. Why is it important?
  2. Block time out of your calendar to work on a specific activity or task (like reading to the kids.)
  3. Tell a lot of people about it: call, share it on your FB sisterhood, tweet it, or post it on your blog. You will feel more accountable. I did that when I vowed to not complain for 30 days.

I am so passionate about this it may sound I’m marketing something. That’s part of the secret: there are two F words that complement FOCUS: Faith and Follow Through!

Do you know what you want?

How much do you want it?

Believe you can do it ~ Focus on it with all your might ~ Be persistent and consistent!

If you don’t get it, it wasn’t part of the big picture, but I guarantee the outcome will be magnificent.
