My pregnancies were probably the best times of my life. I felt empowered, I felt beautiful, excited with anticipation and confidence that I was in for a motherhood treat!
I touched my belly constantly and I spoke to my creation inside, letting them know I loved them.
When Elisha was born, I could not stop touching her. I remember people telling me I held her and rocked her too much…
While I am not a spoiler and believe in positive discipline, I did not believe that holding, hugging, rocking, and cuddling was ever spoiling. It was our time to bond, to express love, and to connect at a deep level with my baby girl.
I had read about every book there was on being pregnant. I was subscribed to about every newsletter there was about bellies and babies. They all agreed on the same concept: touching while talking is great for babies!
Every time a baby is gently touched, it does not only send a message that he/she is loved and important, it reduces any possible stress, stimulates their brain, promotes healing and growth.
3 months after Elisha was born, I was pregnant with Elyssa. They are 1 year and 7 days apart. They both enjoyed belly touch and belly talk. They both enjoy massages and hugs at every possible chance.
When Elyssa was not yet talking she would just lift her feet (on the picture above) because she knew I would massage them LOL. They love it! I love it!
We never outgrow the need for positive touch.
Have you ever felt certain that a hug would be just the thing to make you feel better?
I do, all the time. Elisha, Elyssa and I hug constantly and give each other little messages. This is true for my whole family.
Sometimes I am in an important phone call and they know they have to keep quiet, but mami can still hold them close or “touch” their feet while she’s on the phone.
Cuddling, hugging, kissing…it’s necessary for both boys and girls.
Let’s touch positively – from newborns to seniors – they all need a hand…a loving hand that communicates “I’m here” “I care” “you matter” “I have time for you“.
Have you positively touched someone today?

What a great post on the power of the human touch. Nowadays, it is so hard to come by. It is most definitely the easiest and best way to show someone you care. Great job!
