What Makes IT Real

Becoming a mom has been the best thing to happen to me. Suddenly, I had to become a better me…for them.

For as long as I can remember, I knew God has made me a visionary. I always saw beyond my circumstances and knew I could be more. I guess I just never knew I had to be better FOR ME.

Becoming a mom was my wake-up call. How can I be a good mom if I am not a good Elayna, first and foremost?
I am the message. I am the story. I am the example.

Actions speak louder than words.

I have always found that the biggest disappointments for me have been the conflict between what a person says and what a person does. The words sound great, but they don’t feel right.

“More than words
Is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn’t have to say
that you love me, yeah
Cause I’d already know.”  ~Extreme, Lyrics ~”More Than Words”

I am more than imperfect, but each day, I have the resolution and determination to be better and do better. We have incredible potential and there is always room for growth and development in our lives.

I work hard at reaching just a little higher.
I accept that it is hard, but I do it anyway.
I do it anyway and I don’t complain while doing it.
I don’t complain and I smile.
I smile and I’m thankful.
I’m thankful and it works.
It works and I am blessed.

I am the message. I want my children to have that attitude, so I have it first. It’s not that you can’t speak your message, but more than words is what makes it real.

Mahatma Gandhi said “Be the change you wish to see in the world” and I say “Be the message you want to tell the world”.

Be the lesson you want to teach your kids. That is what makes it real.
Do what you preach. That is what makes it real.
Make mistakes and correct them. That is what makes it real.
Learn the lesson and move on. That is what makes it real.

Then you wouldn’t have to say anything about yourself, because I’d already know… your children, everyone already knows!

In your opinion, what makes it real?
